Our Story

It all started some 20 years ago....

During A Trip To California's Wine Country

During A Trip To California's Wine Country
North of San Francisco, I immediately felt a connection to the region’s food, wine, and its rustic charm. At a small Napa Valley winery, I encountered the inspiration for our restaurant’s name – a Rhodesian Ridgeback, a red dog as unique and noble as I’d ever seen. These dogs were bred to hunt lions in packs – a skill that seemed entirely possible given this dog’s imposing stature.

The region's easy, slowed-down way of life was enchanting, reminiscent of the tranquility found on a Caribbean island. Years late, together with Terri, we envisioned a restaurant that embodies the distinct style, comfort, and culinary simplicity of wine country. Our restaurant, aptly named Red Dog, reflects this inspiration. Chef Terri, a master of straightforward yet exquisite dishes, brings her technical skill and passion for cooking to our menu, elevating comfort food to new heights.

Why Red Dog?

Why Red Dog?
Many things come and go, and there are times good and bad. No matter your lot in life, a good meal, a full cup, and a loyal dog will always bring comfort and a smile. These days I have my own little red dog named Roux.
